Hotel Review: Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Walt Disney World

Like it? Share it!

Of all of the fabulous Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is up there with my favorites. The resort is a short boat ride from the Magic Kingdom, but once you step into the lobby, you could easily forget that. It has a rustic, old world feel to it, and everything from the lobby to the pools to the recreation activities make you feel like you’re a million miles from the Disney parks.

The resort has always been considered a Disney Vacation Club Resort, but has recently undergone a major refurbishment with the addition of the Disney Copper Creek Villas and Cabins. Including everything from a deluxe studio, to 1, 2, and 3 bedroom villas, to the 26 breathtaking waterside cabins, these properties manage to perfectly blend the modern comforts of a deluxe Disney property with the natural charm of the Pacific North West.

Alongside the fabulous new villas and cabins, there is a gorgeous new pool, and a new quick service location that I think might just be one of the best anywhere on Disney property! Read along for my complete Disney Copper Creek Villas review!

Copper Creek Villas and Cabins

Taking inspiration from the creation of the railroad of the late 1800s, the villas of Copper Creek pay tribute to the warm, inviting accommodations that welcomed those first railroad travelers. The natural beauty of the Pacific North West pairs perfectly with the Disney luxury that guests have come to love, combining natural elements with modern elegance; think indoor/outdoor fireplaces, exposed wooden beams, and sleek appliances.

We were lucky enough to stay in a 2-bedroom villa, and there was plenty of space for the four adults, one child, and one infant in our traveling party.

The master suite features a king bed, and the second bedroom features 2 queen beds, with both having private bathrooms. The bathroom in the second bedroom was HUGE – there were two vanities, as well as the shower room, and a walk-in closet big enough for someone to sleep (literally – we put Grayson’s pack and play in there to give him some privacy, and he slept peacefully with the bathroom door ajar for 12 hours!)

The villa had a large balcony than ran the length from the master through the living room to the second bedroom, and our pool view was spectacular. The kitchen had everything we needed to make the kids food so we weren’t constantly having to go out to buy food (read more about traveling with a picky eater here), and the living room featured sofas, chairs, and a dining room table big enough for us all.

The villa felt spacious enough for all of us, yet each sleeping area had enough privacy that we didn’t feel like we were on top of each other the whole time.

We got to take a quick glimpse at the waterside cabins, and they are absolutely spectacular! Spacious and yet warm and inviting, I honestly could have moved in to one of them. The covered porch with a sunken hot tub – which, if you’re lucky, you can view the Magic Kingdom fireworks from! – were the icing on the cake, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book one of these if we stayed at the resort again.

Boulder Ridge Cove Pool

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has a main pool area, the Copper Creek Springs pool (featuring a 67-foot water slide!) as well as an awesome splash pad area with slides and one of those buckets that drops water on the kids every few minutes. I thought for sure that we’d have to drag Harrison away from there to check out the new pool, but we didn’t even make it over there!

The new Boulder Ridge Cove pool sits a short walk away from the main pool, and really captures the rustic, natural feel of the resort. It features a zero-depth entry, which is so perfect for young kids to be able to splash around and not feel out of their depth, as well as a deeper end where Harrison spent hours (literally, hours!) jumping in and having a ball.

My favorite part about the pool were the six covered cabana-style areas, with the most incredibly comfortable sofas and lounge chairs. These areas are first come, first serve, and I would absolutely recommend getting to the pool early enough to snag one!

Boulder Ridge Cove Pool is also one of my top pools at Walt Disney World!

Geyser Point Bar and Grill

No Copper Creek Villas review would be complete without talking about the fabulous food! Opened earlier in the year, Geyser Point Bar and Grill sits on the shores of Bay Lake, with one of the most amazing views at the resort.

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as an all-day appetizer and drink menu, Geyser Point has a walk-up quick service window as well as a full bar with plenty of covered seating. We tried both ordering from the walk-up window and ordering from the bar, and found the food and service from both to be fantastic.

Personal favorite items include the handcrafted charcuterie, the cheesy barbecue brisket with house-made chips, and the lump crab cake sandwich. There was also a great kids menu, and I especially loved the finger food sampler, featuring sliced turkey, cheese, tomatoes, and quinoa salad – perfect for toddlers and younger kids with small appetites.

We were able to find covered seating near the bar during lunch, but it is a popular location and we noticed people tended to linger over their drinks and food; later that night when we returned, there was plenty of available seating at the bar, under the covered area, and on the water.

We sampled a few of the cocktails, including the Geyser Point secret drink, the Blue Wilderness (kind of like a Blue Hawaiian, and definitely on the sweeter side!) The cocktail menu was pretty extensive, and the bartenders were great at making recommendations.

If you’re looking for other dining options at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge then definitely check out the new Storybook Dining character meal at Artist Point where you can dine with Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and even the Evil Queen!

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort

As if the new villas and recreation areas weren’t enough, guests staying at the Copper Creek Villas and Cabins are welcome to enjoy the rest of the facilities at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. This goes for the awesome pool areas, the recreation activities, the arcade, and of course, all of the wonderful dining.

One of our favorite restaurants on Walt Disney World property is Artist Point, a signature restaurant where you can find Storybook Dining with Snow White. Whispering Canyon is also a firm favorite for their amazing all you care to eat skillets, and the newly designed Roaring Forks quick service location has the most amazing chocolate hazelnut French toast on their breakfast menu! In other words, there is no shortage of things to do at this resort, and over the course of a weekend, we didn’t even make it to any of the parks – we were having way too much fun exploring where we were!
